Look at this little thief! Today we celebrated McKinley's birthday, a little late, yes, but celebrated it non the less. We did so at Sikome Lake with 12 of her friends and spent our time doing what people do when you're at a public lake. Anyway, we weren't one of the fortunate groups of people to find any available picnic table so we threw down our blanket and towels and picniced on pizza, pop, chips and oreo cookies on the grass. A diet fit for most any group of teenagers, wouldn't you say? (Well, at least for their birthday party). Anyway, this little gopher didn't waste any time getting in on his piece of the party either. We had only stepped away from the blanket for a minute and he snuck up, all stealth-like of course, and snatched an oreo! At least he was gracious enough to let me get close enough for the picture above!
This is a pic of McKinley with her friends who came to celebrate!
Fantastic oreo picture. Chipmunk? I don't think it's a squirrel...not enough of a bushy tail.
ReplyDeleteSo how do you handle birthday parties when siblings want to come along? Was K there with you too? Or did you only invite McK's friends? I still wrestle with that - always the siblings want to come along for the party.
Give me your advice.
looks like a gopher to me :)
ReplyDeleteOn another note, now I want one of thoes oreos!
What a blast! I'm sure this will be a birthday she will never forget!
ReplyDeleteThis was definetely a ground squirel, also known as a gopher! And we've always included the siblings in one anothers birthday parties. We've tried to teach our kids that siblings are also our friends and that they are there for you always, especially when things are tough so, in turn, they should be there for the good stuff too! It's never been an issue so I guess it's always worked out for us.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog - I loved the Abort Abort post too. And your lake pictures. They make me nostalgic for summer even though it isn't quite over yet. I've never been to Sikome Lake, I'm going to have to try it.
